Benjamin Tomkins

Benjamin received his M.M. In violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where is studied with Cleveland Orchestra principal Stephen Rose, and his B.M. from Western Illinois University, where he studied with Monte Belknap. He has performed as a member of the Charleston Symphony, the Illinois Symphony, the Illinois Chamber Orchestra, and currently performs with the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz, CA. Ben has been teaching violin for nearly 20 years, and has been in the faculty of Illinois College, as well as serving as interim faculty at Regis College.

As a chamber musician, he has attended master classes alongside members of the Cleveland, Miami, Arditti, Penderecki, Tokyo, Miro, and Pacifica quartets. He has served as Director of Strings Attached and Music Director of the Colorado Youth Symphony, and is currently a Master Mentor with the Denver School of the Arts.

Ben lives in Denver, and in his spare time he enjoys cooking, boxing, philosophy, history, and spending time with his wife Robyn and their two wonderful pets, Molly and Amelia.
